Quality Assurance & Control (field services)
Effective and vigorous quality assurance and control is fundamental to the success CPI clients experience. Knowing that cutting corners and simplifying procedures to save money can influence the performance of even the most competent contractors, our philosophy is that vigorous and constant accountability is critical. The following services are among those which CPI offers to clients during a project.
Initial assessment –
CPI will evaluate the existing condition of the substrate and condition of the site including the current coating system, cathodic protection system and welds. This may also include review of project specifications.
Pre-Construction Quality Assurance –
Upon conclusion of initial assessment of the project, CPI will offer recommendations to minimize challenges and risks to project success. This is done in conjunction with the review of the specific coating process plan for the project as well as relevant contract documents.
On-Site Coating Testing and Inspections –
CPI brings experienced eyes and ears to the field. A NACE Certified Inspector will be on site at all times that the work is being performed – this begins from the commencement of work. It is our experience that full on-site inspection is fundamental to success. This approach ensures the best product application and optimum system performance.
Cathodic Protection Field Testing and Maintenance –
Cathodic protection maintenance programs are designed by CPI to review system performance and current corrosion control. These are designed by industry leading professionals with the highest certifications in the field (NACE level-4 Cathodic Design).
Weld Inspection and Testing –
CPI weld inspectors are certified weld inspectors (CWI) through the American Welding Society (AWS). Most state structural specialty codes require weld inspection by certified CWI weld inspectors. Several of CPI’s inspectors are both NACE Certified Coatings Inspectors and CWI Certified Weld Inspectors, allowing for improved project efficiency and potential cost savings opportunities.
Contractor On-site Technical Training –
CPI can provide on-site technical training to owner and contractor staff specific to the coating process and coating system selected for use on the project.
